Well, I know there are people who read this blog that are not in Austin, but as you might have heard, there’s a primary on! Early voting started, what, yesterday? As easy as it is to forget right now, there are matters on the ballot that have nothing to do with the presidential primary. Here are some things to help with all that:
- Sample ballot.
- League of Women Voters voter’s guide (fantastic – they do this every election).
- The Chronicle’s endorsements
Last I heard, 40,000 people signed up for the (100) ticket lottery for the democratic debate before they handed them out yesterday. The Texas Democratic party is having a viewing party at the Hilton downtown, and both candidates are supposed to show up afterwards. That has long-since sold out. Another group is having a different party at the Hyatt downtown, also sold out. The Drafthouse is also having a viewing party (which is also probably sold out). I really wanted to go to that one, but grad school obligations are too great at the moment. When you buy your ticket, you had to declare who’s side you’re on. They are going to organize the theater with supporters of each candidate on opposite sides. Those guys. They are just so damn fun.
Do you think we (Austin) might be engaged in this election? Perhaps? Hmmm?
